INSTRUCTOR PROFILES

PAM BALDWIN—Pam works at Carlson Wagonlit Travel and has over 30 years in the travel business. She has presented classes about several areas of the world, as well as booking travel on the internet and cruising.

ALICIA BERRY—Ms. Berry is a partner at Liebler, Ivey, Connor, Berry & St. Hilaire where her primary areas of practice include construction law, employment law, labor law, criminal law and personal injury. Ms. Berry’s construction law practice includes representation of both home owners and contractors in both plaintiff and defense capacities. Prior to going into private practice, Ms. Berry was an assistant district attorney for the city of Kennewick where she was active in building code enforcement. Ms. Berry received her bachelor’s degree from Washington State University and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Idaho. She is teaching a class on construction law for our program.

MARY BLOOMSBURG-- Mary designs and sells her own jewelry. She also owns an online Bead Store and keeps current on the latest styles in jewelry. She loves sharing her expertise in this area, and is teaching a beaded jewelry class.

GINGER BRAUNEIS—Ginger is a secretary for the Kennewick School district. We are happy to welcome her to our Community Ed staff teaching our beginning Powerpoint class.

RACHEL BUCK—Rachel received her formal education in Modern Languages in Great Britain, including study abroad. Now the mother of two, Rachel came to the U.S. in 1991, and has lived in the Tri-Cities since 2000. She has taught English as a foreign language, but her true passion is teaching French and German in an interactive and friendly atmosphere. She is teaching classes on French and German for 4-7 year olds and their parents.

ROY BUNNELL—Roy has been the Materials Science Technology instructor at Southridge for the past 10 years. He is teaching a class on making silver jewelry.

SHARON BURNS—Sharon has been involved in teaching some form of safety training most of her professional career. Since forming First Aid Ed. In 2005, she has taught first aid, CPR, bloodborne pathogens and babysitting to more than 750 eastern Washington residents. She is an EMT with Mid-Columbia Pre-Hospital Care Association. Her classes are informative and interactive, and students learn in a non-stressful environment. She is presenting a first aid/CPR class, one on babysitting basics and one on first aid for children.

CONNIE CARSON—Connie has been a Master Food Preserver for WSU Extension for three years and promotes the program at the Pasco Farmer’s Market. She is teaching classes on pressure canning and one on canning apple pie filling.

GINA CRONRATH—Gina has been a Certified Diabetic Educator for 10 years and an RN for 29 years. She also has raised a Type I diabetic daughter. She is teaching a class on dining out with diabetes.

RENEE CRISWELL—Renee recently moved from Idaho where she was a Computer Technical Engineer for Bechtel. She currently works as an It Manager in the Tri-Cities. Renee has worked in the IT industry for the past 24 years; she attended the University of Maryland where she majored in computer science and received her MSCE at New Horizon in Houston, Texas. She is teaching several ramp-up computer classes this session along with our MS Office class.

LISA DAY—Lisa, owner of Lisa Day Designs, has taught faux finishes and other art classes for Allied Arts, and is presenting a class on faux finishes.

EVA ELLWELL—Eva graduated from Taiwan College with a degree in Banking/Insurance. She also has a B.S. in account from Missouri State. She moved to Richland in 1994 and is a past president of the Tri-City Chinese American Association. She began teaching Chinese in 1994 and is presenting a Mandarin Chinese class this session.

NATALIE FLINT—Natalie has received training for and is presenting a class on Life Skills.

EDWARD GONSALVES—Edward is a member of the Tri-Cities Fencing Club with national certification with the U.S. Fencing Association. He has taught fencing for our program for many years.

GARY GREENE—Gary has lived in the Tri-Cities for 25 years where he and his wife raised their three children. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington and Masters in Behavioral Science from City University. Besides being an engineer, Gary has been a technical instructor presenting classes on a wide range of subjects. He is teaching our program’s MS Excel classes.

ERIC GREIFF—A language fanatic who has traveled to many countries, Eric is certified in TESOL with specialization in French and Spanish. He is teaching two Spanish classes this session.

DAVID HARRIS—David is the owner of Catering to You, and has been cooking professionally for over 20 years. He has presented a variety of cooking classes for our program over the past several years.

MARENA HEAP—Marena is a Graduate Gemologist, and Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers. She is a native of Richland, a graduate of Hanford High School and Evergreen State University. She offers appraisals and retail sales of fine costume and vintage jewelry at her store, “All that Shines”, 306 W. Kennewick Avenue. She offers a class on the history and value of costume jewelry.

FLOYD IVEY—Floyd is a Washington State Licensed Attorney, and a Registered Patent Attorney, and is teaching a class on obtaining a patent.

CHRIS JANOS—Chris has studied T’ai Chi for a number of years, and is teaching a class for our program this session.

DANIEL KATHREN—An attorney in private practice, Dan has taught classes on estate planning, how to choose the right
business entity and bankruptcy. He also teaches a class on being/choosing an executor.

MARCIA KEEFER—Marcia is a hand weaver who started weaving baskets five years ago. She has been teaching for two years. She is a member of the Desert Fiber Arts Basketry Study Group and the Mid-Columbia Basketmakers Guild. Teaching helps her improve her technique and the study group presents her with new and interesting challenges. Her goal is to teach students a variety of techniques so they can design their own baskets. She currently shows her work at Allied Arts in Richland. Marcia is also the 2007 recipient of the Szulinski Award for craftsmanship from Allied Arts.

GARY KLEINKNECT—Gary has taught Washington State History for 28 years, and is currently at Kamiakin HS, and is offering a field trip studying the ice age floods in our area. He is also the president of the Ice Age Floods Institute.

DIANE LAMBERT—Diane taught writing at the college level for 10 years, and is teaching a technical writing class and one on writing your life story for our program. She has also done professional web design and is an avid crafter.

ARLENE LILLY—Arlene loves to cook and bake and has taught a number of cooking classes for KCE. This session she offers a class on a variety of gifts from your kitchen.

RENE MARTINEZ—Rene has been crafting for as long as she can remember. She loved anything with glue, glitter, paper and scissors. She loves scrapbooking and other paper crafts. She is presenting three interesting craft classes.

BRUCE MCCOMB—Bruce is the Executive Director of the RECA Foundation and is very involved with the Tri-Cities Free Net. He has taught a number of classes for Community Education for many years, & is a KCE Advisory Council member. He is teaching a class on computer upgrades.

LYNN MCDOUGAL—Lynn has a B.A. in Psychology and a Masters in Transpersonal Psychology. She had an eleven year career at the University of Oregon teaching and doing research in Cognitive Neuropsychology and Brain Electrophysiology. She is teaching a class on working from the inside out—the “5 W’s” of work.

JUDY MORRISON—Judy has studied and taught bagpiping for many years at the college level, and teaches our bagpipes class. She is a member of the Desert Thistle Pipe Band.

ELINA MOVSESYAN—Elina is a native of Russia, and has taught Russian and English in Russia for over 10 years. She presents Russian classes for our program.

LOUISE OLSEN—Louise has been a realtor for over 25 years, and has also been involved in the home building field as well. She is a past president of the Tri-Cities Association of Realtors, and a past Co-realtor of the year. She is presenting a class on home staging/selling and one on home buying.

JASON PHILLIPS—Jason has been a music student for seven years, and began playing the guitar five years ago. He competed in solo and ensemble two years ago at the state level in the classical guitar solo section. He has been teaching private lessons and is offering beginning guitar classes for our program.

RENEE POTTLE—Renee is a Home Economist and former Health and Nutrition educator. She has developed curriculum for middle school, high school and adult education students. She is the author of the cookbook I Want My Dinner Now!—Simple Meals for Busy Cooks. She is presenting a class on easy meal planning and a class on healthy eating.

JIM REDWINE—Jim is the owner of Finewine Photography, and has been a professional photographer for over 26 years. He is teaching our digital photo editing and photoshop classes.

ANN REEVES—Ann was a management recruiter for British Petroleum in Chicago. She is a volunteer with the American Library Association to give resume critiques for newly graduated librarians. She has a Masters degree in Business Management and she is presenting a class on creating a great resume.

JO RITCHEY—Jo recently moved to the Tri-Cities from California, where she taught art. She learned chair caning while living in Vermont and she is sharing this skill with our students.

CATHERINE ROSS—Catherine has over 30 years signing experience with 18 years teaching sign language at Okanogan University College. She is teaching our beginning sign language class.

JACK SCHNEIDER—Jack has been carving wood for over 35 years, and has taught Community Education classes for 30 of those 35 years, and serves on the KCE Advisory Council as well.

CORINA SCHIRMER—A certified chef, Corina graduated from Western Culinary Institute in 1993. She has worked as a private chef, professional caterer and instructor over the past 17 years. She is presenting a class on the science of veggies and one on soups, stews and chowders.

DEBRA SCOTT—Debra started out in stained glass art by reading up on stained glass techniques for approximately three years. She taught herself the foil method of stained glass and has been doing custom stained glass work for several years. She enjoys this craft very much and is sharing it with our students this session.

JACKIE STAM—A Washington State Licensed Attorney, Jackie is teaching a class on the various options for adoption.

JOHN STEWART—The owner of Kempo Karate and a 5th degree black belt, John has been presenting Women’s Self-Defense classes for several years.

GEORGE SUCH, D.C.—A member of the Washington State Chiropractic Association, George is in his 25th year of chiropractic practice and has been teaching health-related classes for 18 years. He also enjoys writing, and is a part-time English major at WSU-Tri-Cities. He is teaching a class on building stability for our program this session.

KAREN SULLIVAN-SCHWEBKE—Karen is a local community activist and full time mother. She holds MBA/JD degrees from the University of Washington and has served our community in many areas, including leading the Civil Service commission, the Mid-Columbia Symphony, and the Public Health Network. Her top priorities are volunteering at her children’s schools, serving on the University of Washington Alumni Board of Governors, promoting the visual and performance arts and preserving Historic Downtown Kennewick. She is also a professional writer in many publications and has handled hundreds of media marketing campaigns. She is presenting a class on event planning and co-teaching one of the history of costume jewelry.

CHRISTOPHER TURNER—The owner of CNT Consultants and a wonderful communicator, Christopher presents classes on the gift of gab, stress management, and some on improving one’s self image. He is a member of our local Toastmasters (speakers group), and serves on our Advisory Council.

PATRICIA VERDUN—Patricia is a graduate of the University of Idaho with a Master’s in Business Education. She teaches business courses at Walla Walla High School and is presenting a basic computer class, Access and Publisher classes this session.

JIM & JOHN WESTLAND—From the Clearwater Fly Shop, Jim and John have 15 years experience in teaching the art of fly tying. They are offering fly tying and fly casting classes for our program.

JILL WILSON—Jill heard the words “Where did you get that?” and “I want one just like that!” so many times that she decided to share here lifelong exploration and antiquing skills by founding the company “Going Vintage”. Jill is also the co-owner of the Alodia Collection if antiques and gifts seen throughout the eastern Washington area. She worked for three years with Neva Scott of “Nest Feathers” fame, learning the world of “Shabby Chic”. She is also a professional painter and refinisher of furniture. This mother of five lives in Richland. She is presenting two offerings of her junking journeys.

JEAN ZACH—Jean has a degree in Commercial Art and has offered many artistic classes including wildflower photography, knitting, color theory, and more. She is teaching a crochet class and two knitting classes this session.
