Mandarin Chinese
Have you always wanted to learn Chinese? Here’s your chance. We will cover basic forms, how to pronounce words, how to write traditional Chinese characters and some grammar. A textbook to be discussed in the first class.

Introduction to German II
This class will be a continuation of the Introduction to German Class of last session. If you took that class, or have a basic knowledge of German, join us. We will emphasize basic grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. Students will engage in simple reading, writing and conversation. The culture of the German language is presented through stories/readings, film segments, music and current events. Handouts provided.

Russian III
This is a continuation of Russian III. Extensive practice in reading, writing, speaking, comprehen-sion; some exposure to Russian culture. The course will also include grammar and sentence structure. Please plan to attend each class, as Elina cannot make up missed work. Handouts provided.

Advanced Russian IV
Further development of the following skills: reading, writing, speaking and comprehension. The course includes reading short stories, in depth Russian grammar, expansion of basic vocabulary and broadening of students’ understanding of Russian culture. Students read short texts using simple context clues and decoding skills. Handouts provided.

Introduction to Japanese Culture and Language
We will focus on learning the basics of the Japanese language such as the basic writing systems: hiragana and katakana, as well as introductions, basic sentence structure, essential phrases, and how to begin speaking as though you just arrived in Japan. The class takes a heavy cultural basis working on teaching language through cultural examples of living in Japan and will allow students to explore a large variety of Japanese culture and daily activities. Beginning Conversational Spanish
For those with or without know-ledge of Spanish. Learn in an interactive, fun environment using a modern, totally engaged brain technique using all five senses. Learn simple greetings, common expressions, recognize names of some foods, ask directions, tell time, give/receive information with basic grammar, communication and conversation. Required text: Madrigal’s Magic Key to Spanish.

Write Here: Learn to Write by Writing with other Authors
Do you feel frustrated writing alone? Or, daydream of writing, but can’t get started on your own? Join this class lead by a local writing instructor with a M.A. in writing popular fiction. Learn to plot, to build tension, and create characters. You will learn the “hook,” point of view, and writing dialogue, with the opportunity to be critiqued and to critique others. Come, join us, make friends and get started writing like a pro. Open to experienced and inexperienced writers.
